Ken Ludwig is an internationally acclaimed playwright whose many hits on Broadway, in London’s West End and throughout the world have made his name synonymous with modern comedy. He studied law at Harvard and Cambridge; he studied music at Harvard with the composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein, and theatre history at Cambridge. He practiced law for several years with the firm of Steptoe & Johnson, where he remains Of Counsel.

His first Broadway hit was a comedy Lend Me a Tenor (1989), which was followed by a very successful musical Crazy for You (1992), which ran for more than four years on Broadway and in London. Six of his plays were staged both on Broadway and in West End. He has won the Laurence Olivier Award, three Tony Award nominations, two Helen Hayes Awards and the Edgar Award. His work has been performed in thirty countries in over twenty languages. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from York College of Pennsylvania. In 2006 he was called »the provider of light comedies« by The Times.

Ken Ludwig is also a successful theatre director. His comedy Leading Ladies premiered at the Alley Theatre in Houston in 2004 under his direction.

Jack and Leo are two jobless actors, who find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" in a small town in Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Meg’s life also turns upside down when she meets her »cousins« Maxine and Stephanie. Amorous incidents, hillarious and unexpected entanglements of two men, cross-dressed as women, witty dialogues make in a brilliant comedy, which unites theatre magic with everyday life.
